THE BABY BITES TEAM: Baby Bites Manhattan: Laura Deutsch, the proud mom of daughter Ava and son Jacob, is the founder and creator of Baby Bites. Laura started Baby Bites because she found the transition from being a working woman to a stay-at-home mom quite challenging, lonely, and stressful. She knew the importance of spending time with other new moms but found it difficult to find new mommy friends. Laura's vision was to create a venue where new moms could easily meet other new moms, socialize, and feel a sense of community. The first Baby Bites luncheon was held in February 2006. The response from the community was incredible and since then Baby Bites has expanded into many other areas including events for expectant moms, sample classes around town, parenting seminars, toddler events, and lots of special events for everyone! Now, after a ten year career as an attorney at a large NYC law firm, Chana is making that dream a reality. She is bringing Baby Bites to Brooklyn with the goal of providing new mothers a forum where they can connect, share and learn. Her hope is that Baby Bites Brooklyn will make new motherhood a little less scary and a whole lot more rewarding and empowering for new moms. Chana lives in Prospect Heights with her husband Ted and their two sons, Ben, 3, and Leo, 1. She is thrilled to be bringing Baby Bites to Brooklyn, and looks forward to seeing you at Baby Bites Brooklyn events, starting this Fall. Elise attended Baby Bites luncheons when she lived in New York City and she wanted to bring the gift of Baby Bites to moms in her local NJ area. After working in corporate America and as an NYC teacher, Elise knew owning her own business in a mom-related field was her calling. Having her first daughter and not knowing any other moms made Elise appreciate the social and educational aspects of Baby Bites. At the heart of every Baby Bites NJ luncheon lies the goal of easing the transitions and tasks of motherhood. Baby Bites NJ is an outlet for moms who don't have a support network and the activities of a big city to bring them together. Elise lives in Chatham, NJ, with her husband and two daughters. Although Shelly and her family loved living in Manhattan, the inevitable space constraints and pre-school applications prompted their move to the burbs in February '06. "When Adam was born I felt a bit lonely and all I wanted to do was venture out and mingle with other mommies. After leaving the city I found that it wasnt easy to meet other women that I could really connect with." Shelly is a C.P.A who received an M.B.A from Michigan State University. Since becoming a mom Shelly always dreamed about starting her own business that combined her strong business background with mommyhood. More importantly Shelly wanted to offer stay-home and working moms a venue where they can bond and be educated on various topics relating to motherhood and life.
